Gulzar's directive

Municipal Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar on Tuesday asked engineering officials of the VMC to adhere to quality norms while constructing side drains. Mr. Gulzar, who inspected the ongoing engineering works in Circle-I, found fault with the construction of drain from Cholera Hospital to Bhimanavaripeta. The drain level should be on a par with that of the road, he said.

National school games

E.Koutilaya Kumar Goud, a seventh standard student of V.P. Siddhartha Public School, is participating in the national school games, which began at Shamsaghbad in Madhya Pradesh on Monday. He is representing the State in U-14 boys cricket team of School Games Federation.

Call to youth

Mayor Mallika Begum on Tuesday inaugurated a three-day `Youth club development training' programme of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, which is being organised in commemoration of India's first war of independence (1857). She called upon youth to come forward to solve many societal evils like AIDS. AIM Services and Lions Club of Vijayawada East are also partners in the programme.
