VISAKAHAPATNAM: "Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), that was signed between India and Chile in March this year, is only the beginning of trade relations between the two countries and we have to go beyond it. Though it is a late surge by India, the exports have doubled over the last two years," said Jorge Heine the Chilean ambassador to India in his address on Indo-Latin America economic and trade relations on Tuesday. The diplomat who was here on an invitation from Gitam Institute of Foreign Trade (GIFT), pointed out that China was way ahead with a trade of 40 billion USD while India had just made a beginning with 6 billion USD this year. M.V.V.S. Murthi, president Gitam Institutes, V.K. Kumar, director GIFT and Gan Bhukta, professor-marketing, GIFT, were also present.
