HYDERABAD: Two persons died after a shed erected with asbestos sheets collapsed on them at their workplace in Vanasthalipuram on Tuesday morning. The police said mason Badri (27) and tractor driver Gopi Nayak (19) were attending to some repair works atop the 13-feet high shed when it suddenly caved-in. The duo who sustained bleeding injuries was rushed to a nearby private hospital where they were declared brought dead. Vanasthalipuram Sub-Inspector P. Ravindra Prasad said that shed owner Damodhar Rao constructed the shed at New Sripuram Colony near B. N. Reddy Nagar without taking any precautionary measures . He erected a pyre on the middle of the shed as a support to the roof but it collapsed minutes after Badri and Prasad climbed it.
Negligence
"The incident happened due to Rao's negligence. He forced them to carry out pending works without adopting any safety measures. Thus, a case will be booked against him after the arrival of victims' relatives on Tuesday night," the SI said. Badri was a native of Srikalahasthi in Tirupati while Gopi belongs to Mahabubnagar district.
