It's time for more academic tie-ups
Special Correspondent
Bangalore:
The U.S. and Australian universities have already done it and now the Chinese are up to it tie-ups between their universities and those in India.
Student and faculty exchanges and joint awarding of degrees are what such collaborations are all about.
Now, Visvesvaraya Technological University has entered into an MoU with four technology universities of China.
Many benefits
Under the tie-up, besides mutually recognised courses, there will also be joint research in areas such as information technology, electronics and the sunrise nanotechnology.
The principle "if you can't beat them, join them" appears to work well in academia too.
