Students plan indefinite hunger strike from today

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Students of various universities and colleges in the Capital protesting against the passage of the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Bill, 2006, in Parliament have decided to launch indefinite relay hunger strikes in their respective institutes from Wednesday.

"Representatives of Delhi University, JNU, Maulana Azad Medical College and Indraprastha University will launch indefinite hunger strikes on Wednesday," said Kaushal Kant Mishra, joint secretary of the Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Tuesday.

"Apart from our satyagrah in the form of the relay hunger strike, we will also seek an appointment with President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on Wednesday to share our concerns on the issue. We have also decided to organise a major protest rally against the Bill on January 7," he said.
