KOCHI : President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has said that e-learning will enable seamless access to knowledge among institutions, specialists and needy students in the country. Delivering the inaugural address at the launch of a science and technology museum at the S.R.V. Higher Secondary School here on Tuesday, Mr. Kalam said the Internet revolution proved to be a powerful tool for good educational initiatives in the rural areas. Highlighting the advantages of the Internet era, he said an important possibility of the Internet potential was the advantage of providing services anywhere in the country. Urging the student community to explore the exciting avenues of e-learning, Mr. Kalam said there was a conscious effort to put the youth as the centre of focus of the education system. "Students are being perceived as customers and clients. Learning through e-education is student-friendly especially for the billion people spread across the nation. E-learning will also enable seamless flow of knowledge among them," he said. Praising the services provided by Sakshat, the one-stop educational portal initiated by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, the President said it was providing seamless flow of knowledge among the youth. He told the school authorities at S.R.V. School to set up a Sakshat terminal at the newly inaugurated science and technology museum. Referring to the need for setting up more science museums in schools across the country, Mr. Kalam said many children dreamt of becoming astronauts.
