South zone hockey from December 27

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 19th South zone senior hockey championship will be held at the Municipal stadium, Thalassery from December 27 to 30.

Releasing the groupings and fixtures of the tournament here on Wednesday, the KHA secretary, N. Ramesh Kolappa said six teams have confirmed their participation in the five-day event. This included last year's holder Karnataka and runner-up Tamil Nadu.

The teams have been grouped together in two pools for the preliminary league. The semifinals will be played on December 29 and the final on December 30.

The groupings:

Group A: Tamil Nadu, Hyderabad and Pudussery. Group B: Karnataka, Andhra, Kerala. — Special Correspondent
