INDORE: P.T. Raghunath carried on with his good form that saw him make it to the Doha Asian Games final, as he led a 1-2 finish for Navy in the men's 10m air rifle event at the 50th National shooting championship at the Reoti Ranges here on Wednesday. Raghunath shot better than what he did in Doha and emerged a clear winner by 3.4 points ahead of Sanjeev Rajput, who had a miserable final after having qualified as the top scorer along with his teammate. Raghunath shot 101.8 in the final after shooting 593 out of 600 in the qualification. Rajput managed 98.4 for a total of 691.4 and managed to stave off competition from his rivals.
Stellar performance
Tejaswini Sawant came up with a stellar performance in the final to wipe out a five-point deficit and win the women's 50m sports rifle three-position gold medal ahead of Kuheli Gangulee. The Central Industrial Security Force's (CISF) Kuheli started the final with 579 out of 600 in the qualification, while Tejaswini had 574. The Maharashtra shooter kept her cool and shot five plus-10 scores to log 669.7 for the gold medal. Kuheli settled for silver medal with a total of 666.9, while Indian Airlines' Pooja Reddy won bronze for her first medal in the senior section.
