Hockey
BANGALORE: Prakash Padukone, who will champion the cause of the Bangalore Lions in the forthcoming Premier Hockey League beginning in Chennai on January 4, made a strong pitch for professionalism in sports. At a media meet organised by ESPN Star Sports with the Garv Nahin Tho Kuch Nahi (there is nothing without pride) campaign, Prakash said: "The PHL, over the past couple of years, is being conducted by ESPN in a most professional manner, and I hope this will revive the game.'' Explaining his motive behind supporting the Bangalore Lions in the PHL, Prakash said, "I have been watching India play hockey at the Asian Games since 1972 when I first went as a member of the Indian contingent. After our badminton matches, we always went to the hockey grounds and supported our team. "In my family, my father, besides badminton, also played hockey and my second daughter is a budding player. Hence I have this passion for hockey," added Prakash.
Golden tie-up
ESPN's tie-up with Prakash Padukone and Geet Sethi's venture `Quest for Gold,' will ensure that the funds generated by the channel through its sale of downloads, music, SMS and armbands for the PHL will go to the Quest for Gold cause. Special Correspondent
