BANGALORE: Local lad C. Muniyappa played superlatively at his home course, the Karnataka Golf Association, to climb atop the leader board after the second round in the Emaar-MGF PGTI golf tournament here on Wednesday. Muniyappa submitting his best ever card (six under 66) in a tournament at this course slammed seven birdies and had a lone blemish on the 15th hole where he was badly off the tee and ended with a bogey. Overnight leader Harinder Gupta had a lot of confusion over his selection of irons and repeatedly made the wrong choices to misgauge the distances. Harinder also found his putting go awry as he ended up with a card of two over 74. Pre-tournament favourite S.S.P. Chowrasia lmoved up into tied second spot to be one-stroke behind C. Muniyappa. The scores (after second round): 1. C. Muniyappa (72, 66) 138; 2. S.S.P. Chowrasia (71, 68), Harinder Gupta (65, 74), Harmeet Kahlon (67, 72), Gurbaaz Mann (70, 69) and Digvijay Singh (73, 66) 139 each; 7. Amandeep Johl (69, 71) 140; 8. Ashok Kumar (72, 69) and Amardip Malik (66, 75) 141 each; 10. Gaganjeet Bhullar (71, 71), Randhir S. Ghotra (71, 71), Mukesh Kumar (70, 72) and Ali Sher (70, 72) 142 each. Amateurs: 1.
