Puducherry police to bring out own manual

Staff Reporter

Five-member task committee has been formed

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry police will soon come out with its own manual to sensitise the force about the aspects of policing.

Since its merger with the Indian Union in 1954, the territorial police had been following the manuals of different States like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Punjab. Chhaya Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) told The Hindu that a five-member committee had been formed to prepare the draft. She was the chairperson and other members include serving and retired police officers.

"The draft would be ready by the end of March and we hope it would be operational by six months," she added.
