VIZIANAGARAM: Families displaced by Thotapalli, Peddageda, Tarakarama Theertha Sagaram, Vengalaraosagar and Andra projects staged a dharna at the Collectorate here on Wednesday demanding relief and rehabilitation package. The oustees of these projects under the banner Project Nirvasithula Sangam and led by CPI(M) district secretary M. Krishna Murty and A.P. Rythu Sangam secretary M. Suryanarayana alleged that work on Tarakarama Theertha Sagaram was taken up without the consent of affected villagers. The R & R package was not implemented for tribals of Kesali, Kotukupenta, Kodikallavalasa, Yeguvakummarivalasa and Tatipadu under Peddagedda project.
Compensation
Barring Naviri villagers, who were given house-sites, others affected by Thotapalli had not been paid compensation. Even after 20 years, families, who were promised three acres of land, displaced by Vengalaraosagar were not rehabilitated. Tribals were not given fishing rights in Andra project reservoir. Similar were the woes of families displaced by Kancharagedda, Golusulumetta, Adarigedda and Gurlagedda, said Mr. Krishna Murty, Mr. Suryanarayana and president of Project Nivasithula Sangam B. Dasu in a press release. Later, they submitted a memorandum to Joint Collector.
