HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) plans to sit as a separate group in the Lok Sabha away from the block of members of the UPA, having severed links with the latter. Reacting to reports that the Congress was trying to persuade the TRS not to press its request to the Speaker to allot separate benches for its five members, senior party leader, A. Narendra, told reporters here on Wednesday that they would not change their stand. It was decided that the TRS would maintain its identity in Lok Sabha by sitting separately and had accordingly requested Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. Mr. Narendra said former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda had expressed his inability to attend the victory rally of TRS at Nalgonda on Friday due to unavoidable circumstances.
IIT at Isnapur
Welcoming the Centre's decision to set up an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) at Isnapur in Medak district, falling in his Parliamentary constituency, he complimented Union Minister for Human Resources Development Arjun Singh and Medak District Collector B. Venkatesham for their efforts. He said the Collector was also instrumental in getting the Rs. 6,000 crores MLR car factory and the second unit of MRF Tyres to Medak. He came down heavily on AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh for his statement on constituting the second SRC to look into demand for separate Telangana. Why did he not demand the same when Chhattisgarh was separated from Madhya Pradesh, he asked. He also took objection to veteran Congress MLA U. Purshotham Reddy starting a signature campaign in favour of the second SRC.
