Woman sets herself ablaze, children hurt

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: A 28-year-old woman died after she reportedly set herself ablaze in her house in Railway Quarters in K.R. Puram police station limits on Tuesday. Two of her children sustained burns and are admitted in Victoria Hospital.

According to the police, Kousalya, the victim, locked the main door after her husband Arun, employee of Diesel Loco Shed, left for work. Her neighbours noticed smoke emanating from the house. They could not enter the house through the main door because the lock was strong.

Then a few persons climbed over the asbestos sheets of a room and broke a portion of it. They jumped inside and found Kousalya dead. Later, they rushed Goutam (7) and Jaishree Priya (3) to Victoria Hospital. The police are yet to know the circumstances that forced Koushalya to take the extreme step.
