VISAKHAPATNAM: A state-of-the art language lab set up with the support of the city HSBC group service centre was inaugurated at the College of Management Studies, Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) on Wednesday. Centre manager HSBC, Iain D. Coleman, inaugurated the lab. The lab consists of 60 workstations with language software from Oxford that will supplement the training programme of the Business English Certificate (BEC) of the University of Cambridge that GITAM has at present. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Coleman said, " Education is the key to prosperity. HSBC supports education projects across the world to help give young people hope, positive attitude, opportunities for success and above all a better future." This language lab will facilitate modern teaching methods of the English language among students and help them gain proficiency to cater to market needs and boost their confidence. President of GITAM, M.V.V.S. Murthy, and Director of the college, M. Gangadhara Rao, commended the assistance provided by HSBC to the project. Members of GITAM governing body, heads of various GITAM institutions, senior management staff from HSBC, professors from Andhra University and students of the college were present at the event.
