BANGALORE: The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) on Thursday launched its website and a helpline for the cause of Kannada. The website www.kannada-praadikaara.gov.in has details on the authority's activities, plans, achievements, publications, important orders and notifications. Select orders and circulars relating to Kannada issued by the Government over a period of time have been posted on the website, according to KDA chairman Siddalingaiah. A gist of the accepted recommendations of the Sarojini Mahishi Committee report and the relevant orders issued from time to time by the Government are also available. The website has the recommendations given by the authority to the Government from time to time, including those on the development of border areas and introducing Kannada as the medium of instruction. People can download Nudi fonts from the website. The helpline (nos. 22253799, 22033810, 22286773 and 22033239) can be used to bring any instance of injustice done to the Kannada language to the notice of the KDA. It will also provide sources of information on Kannada grammar and Kannada equivalents for English words, and where one can attend classes to learn Kannada. The helpline and the website were launched by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in the presence of writers G. Narayana, Hampa Nagarajaiah and Kamala Nagarajaiah and the former Minister Leeladevi R. Prasad.
