Harmeet in the lead

BANGALORE: Harmeet Kahlon vaulted up one spot on the leaderboard and took a two-stroke lead over S.S.P. Chowrasia in the Emaar-MGF golf tournament after the third round at the KGA course here on Thursday.

Harmeet submitted a card of four under 68 on the penultimate round with six birdies on two bogeys.

Harmeet's putting was excellent. He sank two long putts (8th and 10th) both over 25-footers to complement his first shots of the tee.

"I felt mentally good, played a solid all-round game and hope to repeat the performance on the final day," Harmeet said.

Chowrasia played to two under 70 on the third day to be well poised to launch a strong bid for the title. Chowrasia had four birdies and two bogeys.

Digvijay Singh and Gurbaaz Mann had identical scores of one under 71and were in tied third place.

Ashok Kumar followed up his good second round score of three under, with a 70 for the third day.

In the amateurs' section, Jaibir Singh inched closer to the title with a five-stroke lead over D. Veeraraghavan. Only two amateurs made the cut.

Sandeep Syal (74, 72, 69) and Randhir Ghotra (71, 71, 73) 215 each.
