Reshuffle of officers

NEW DELHI: In a reshuffle of Secretary-level officers, Sudha Pillai, an IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, has been appointed Secretary of Labour and Employment and the tenure of V. Thulasidas as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Air India extended till further orders.

Chandra Pal, an IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, was appointed Secretary in the Ministries of Small Scale Industries and Agro and Rural Industries.

Both Ms. Pillai and Mr. Pal were working as Principal Advisers in the Planning Commission.

The appointments were approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), official sources said.

On the extension given to Mr. Thulasidas, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel told reporters that it was done keeping in view the ongoing process of merger of the two State-owned carriers, Air India and Indian.
