Ashok and Ankit in big stand

HYDERABAD: Ashok Manaria (149 batting) and his 232-run stand for the fourth wicket with Ankit Lamba (96 batting) helped Rajasthan gain the first innings lead against Karnataka on the second day of their Vijay Merchant Trophy (under-17) cricket tournament match here on Thursday.

The scores: At Hyderabad: Bengal 212 vs Hyderabad 190 for nine in 98 overs (B. Achintya Rao 42, S. Dhanaji 56, Ranjit Kumar four for 37, Raja Adhikary three for 75).

Karnataka 268 vs Rajasthan 303 for three in 107 overs (Ankit Lamba 96 batting, Ashok Manaria 149 batting).

At Visakhapatnam: Andhra 117 and 28 for two in 10 overs vs. Punjab 302 in 119.2 overs (Anil Sihat 155, Kunwar Raina 67, M. Ajay Kumar four for 60).

Baroda 329 and 29 for one in 11 overs vs. Haryana 242 in 95 overs (Anil Jangra 50, Amanjit Singh 46, Vipin Chadda 45, Mukul Dagar 44, Atchuta Reddy four for 65).

At Bangalore: Assam 201 in 67.1 overs vs Madhya Pradesh 385 for six in 110 overs (Satyam Choudhary 105, Amarjeet Singh 63, Ankit Dane 55, Harpreet Singh Bhatia 51).

Orissa 174 in 62.4 overs and 76 for three in 32 overs (Ajay Kumar 40 n.o.) vs Gujarat 262 in 84.4 overs (Priyank Panchal 59, Jesal Kavia 44, Lagnojit Samal four for 61, Anil Buda four for 86).

Seven-a-side football

The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) will conduct the annual open seven-a-side football tournament at the MCH Red Hills Playground, Hyderabad from December 28. Entries close on December 26 with Mohd. Showkat Ali (9848948837) or Mohd. Lateefuddin, joint tournament secretaries at the office of the Director of Sports, MCH, Sixth floor, Tank Bund Complex, Hyderabad.
