MANGALORE: The State Government will implement "Suvarna Karnataka Suraksha Arogya Yojana" in a month, R. Ashok, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, has said.

Speaking to presspersons after inaugurating `Janapada Siri', a folk procession, on Thursday, he said that the implementation of the scheme had been delayed as the Central Government had proposed some changes in it.

The revised scheme would be placed before the Cabinet within 15 days, and would be presented to the people in the New Year, he said.

The Government had tied up with an insurance company to provide citizens of the State medical insurance up to Rs. 30,000, as envisaged in the scheme, Mr. Ashok said. The insurance would be beneficial to the rural poor, he added.

The Government was making efforts to ensure that there was no shortage of medicines in government hospitals. The ban on colas on school and college premises would be imposed strictly, Mr. Ashok said.
