Robbers strike at four places

BANGALORE: Robbers struck at three places in the city on Wednesday and robbed two women and two students of cash, gold chains and a mobile phone.

The police said that around 6 p.m., two men, who were riding a motorcycle, intercepted another motorcycle on which two students were riding at Balagere in Varthur police station limits.

They picked a quarrel with the two students, Harish and Nandeesh, accusing them of indulging in harassing women. They threatened Mr. Harish and Mr. Nandish and robbed them of Rs. 2,000 in cash and a mobile phone. On a complaint by Mr. Harish, the Varthur police have registered a case.

Chains snatched

Two men, who were riding a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 60,000 from Shadakshari Bai in Vijayanagar police station limits.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. at RPC Layout while Shadakshari Bai of Bapujinagar was walking towards her relative's house, the police said. The Vijayanagar police have registered a case. In another incident, a man snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 26,000 from Nagini Shamasunder in Subramanyapura police station limits.

The police said the incident took place around 7.30 p.m. while Nagini was standing in front of her house at Narayananagar in Doddakallasandra.

Crushed to death

A five-year-old girl, Reshma, was killed after she was run over by a tractor in Bidadi police station limits on Wednesday. The police said that around 6.45 p.m., Reshma came under the wheels of the tractor when the driver was backing up at Bhuvaneshwarinagar.

Two end life

Two persons allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents reported from Magadi Road police station limits. The police said Pannerselvam (38) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house. On Wednesday night, he had sent his wife out of the house and allegedly committed suicide. In the other incident, Gangamma (39), a resident of K.P. Agrahara, ended her life by consuming sleeping pills on Wednesday evening. She was suffering from chronic abdomen pain, the police said.
