Faridabad boy recovered

NEW DELHI: A five-year-old boy allegedly kidnapped from nearby Faridabad has been found at Sarita Vihar in South Delhi. According to the police, a passer-by spotted the boy, Kunal Bhatia, standing alone near the Sarita Vihar flyover on Thursday afternoon. He took the boy to the Sarita Vihar police station. During investigation, the police found that the boy was kidnapped from a school in Faridabad on Thursday morning. Subsequently he was handed over to the Faridabad police.

`Burglars' held

NEW DELHI: With the arrest of five persons, the North Delhi police claim to have smashed a gang of alleged burglars.

According to the police, the accused had broken into Heritage India Export House at Burari on Sunday night and stolen Rs. 3 lakhs in cash. During the investigation, the police team approached the Heritage India Export House's Management Board and found that one of their contractors, Dilip, was missing. Subsequently Dilip was picked up and at his instance, the accused were also arrested. During interrogation, the accused purportedly confessed to having committed the burglary.

New system

NEW DELHI: To enhance surveillance in crowded market areas of the Capital, Police Commissioner K.K. Paul on Thursday inaugurated an electronic security system at Sadar Bazar here.

Twenty-four closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, including 15 mobile cameras, have been installed at various points in the market, billed as Asia's biggest wholesale market attracting nearly a lakh visitors every day. A monitoring station has been set up at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Welfare of the elderly

NEW DELHI: The South-West Delhi police along with the Vasant Vihar Residents' Welfare Association has launched a programme, "60 Plus Caring Circle", for the welfare of senior citizens.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit lauded the joint efforts of the police and the RWA towards welfare of the elderly. She also announced some new schemes for senior citizens like the opening of a library. Some senior citizens also shared their experiences and views.
