Traffic jam in the air
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
The fog may have been missing from Delhi airport, but wind disturbances caused a traffic jam in the air on Wednesday night. With only one side of the main runway in use after 10 p.m. due to the wind direction, many flights had to hover in the air for a long time and were on an average delayed by about 45 minutes. "About 30 to 35 international flights were delayed too. But this was all due to the wind direction,'' said an airport official.
The weather played spoilsport on Thursday morning too with visibility dropping down. "The low visibility procedures were pressed into service at 7-50 a.m. for two hours. But 34 flights operated during this time.''
