VIZIANAGARAM: Members of the Mid-day meal organisers' association staged a dharna demanding honorarium, payment of all pending bills and increase in budget in tune with the soaring prices of essential commodities at the Collectorate here on Friday. Organisers T. Sudharani, V. Lakshmi and V. Indira told reporters that though the scheme was launched in 2003 the Government had not so far provided basic facilities like utensils, sheds, water and gas. In spite of these problems the organisers had been running the scheme effectively with the hope that the Government would recognise their service and pay them honorarium, they said. But the State Government was trying to hand over the management of the scheme to private agencies, Ms. Sudharani said.
