TDP faults suspension

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has taken strong exception to the manner in which they were suspended from the House for demanding that the Government take up discussion on the burning issues such as scholarships for the students, power problem and drought.

Speaking to reporters after being evicted from the House following suspension, TDLP deputy leader T. Devender Goud said it was unfortunate that the TDP members were suspended when they urged the Chair to take up discussion on important issues instead of Congress demand for debate on Margadarsi Financiers.

"Why is the Treasury benches insisting on a debate on Margadarsi Financiers while neglecting other issues that concern the people?" he asked and found fault with Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy for suggesting that the House should take up voting to decide which subject should be taken up.

"This shows that the ruling party has majority and wants to decide on the subject to be taken up first. This is nothing but a conspiracy to undermine democracy," he lamented.
