NEW DELHI: To enhance surveillance in crowded market areas of the Capital, Police Commissioner K.K. Paul on Thursday inaugurated an electronic security system at Sadar Bazar here. Twenty-four closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, including 15 mobile cameras, have been installed at various points in the market, billed as Asia's biggest wholesale market attracting nearly a lakh visitors every day. A monitoring station has been set up at the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police. Underscoring the importance of technology advancement, Dr. Paul said technology acts as "force multiplier" as it is not possible to deploy police personnel at every nook and corner of the city. "It also improves the quality of policing," he added.
