Common facility centre for wetgrinders in April

COIMBATORE: The Common Facility Centre planned for the wetgrinder units here is expected to be commissioned by April next.

According to S. Sivagnanam, Director of Small Industries Service Institute, Chennai, the Coimbatore Wetgrinder and Accessories Manufacturers' Association has acquired 50 cents and planned to raise an 8,000 sq.ft building. It was also collecting quotations for machinery. The project is coming up at a cost of Rs. 2.88 crore.

He said that though the three-year cluster project taken up by the SISI for the wetgrinders units here was coming to and end March next, the progress would be reviewed. In case of visible improvement, it could be continued.

The SISI had identified 139 clusters in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Of these, 35 already had some cluster programme taken up by an agency. The SISI focused on development of new entrepreneurs, helping the existing ones and skill development. For the new entrepreneurs, it had partnered with Indian Bank and the Circle Office of the bank in every city was actively involved in selecting candidates and training them under the entrepreneurship development programme.
