ERODE: Members of the Palani-Erode Rail Seekers Association observed a fast near the Dharapuram municipal bus stand on Saturday. They urged the Centre and the railway authorities to sanction a railway line from Erode to Palani via Perundurai, Engure, Chennimalai, Kangeyam and Dharapuram. Member of Railway Extension Central Committee M. Jailani led the fast in which Dharapuram MLA Prabhavathy and Lingam Chinnasamy participated. The members said though the proposal was already accepted in Parliament, no fund had been allotted to conduct survey for the same. The demonstrators appealed to the Centre to grant fund for the survey work and also for the railway line.
