ERODE: With no drainage and road facilities, residents of EB Nagar, Indian Nagar and Ram Nagar in 46 Pudur panchayat are facing problems every day.
Clogged drain
Sewage from EB Nagar flows through a small drain into Indian Nagar and stagnates there for several days. As plastic papers, bags and other garbage are also thrown into the drain, it remains clogged. Former councillor of the area D. Sridharan says: "This area comes under Ward 4 of 46 Pudur and the residents are paying a minimum of Rs. 300 a year as property tax and also paying water charges to the panchayat. But the panchayat has not undertaken drainage works."
Ailments
The residents also complain of mosquito and fly menace. They also suffer from various ailments because of these problems. Rajasekaran, a resident, says: "From Raghupathynaickkenpalayam to 46 Pudur, the road is in a damaged condition." The only mini bus, which was operated three months ago, has also been stopped, he adds. When contacted, panchayat authorities said they would take steps to construct a drainage within the next couple of months. Modakurichi panchayat union should lay the road between Raghupathynaickkenpalayam and 46 Pudur.
