Students of SRV Higher Secondary School in Kochi cherish the precious moments they shared with the First Citizen. President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam expressed his desire to be physically closer to the students when he reached the venue to inaugurate a science museum. He said: "I am astonished to see that you are seated so far away. Who set such rules and regulations? I do not want to create confusion. I wish you were all nearer." And breaching the security cordon, he walked closer to the students. During the interactive session, Mr. Kalam asked how many students would like to take up teaching as a profession? He was surprised to see that only a few wanted to take up teaching as a career. "I was under the impression that many students in Kerala would like to become teachers in the future," he said. When a student asked him his views on the increasing communal tension in the name of religion, Mr. Kalam said: Every religion has two aspects. We cannot question the theological part of a religion. "But there is 100 per cent commonality among religions when it comes to the spiritual aspect. People can live together through spirituality," he said.
