BERHAMPUR: Finding his New Year wishes for his `cyber friend' infinitely long, Pintu Mahakul, a final year pharmacy degree student of Royal College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, has prepared a 104-metre-long greeting card. Pintu, resident of Deogarh of western Orissa, now resides at a students' mess at Ram Nagar near Kamapalli market in the city. He has used pictures, cloth, coloured polythene sheets to design his long greeting card. It also has his personal touch as his self-composed poems in Oriya and English, artwork, social messages find place on this greeting card. In 2000 he had also prepared a similar New Year greeting card of 50 metres length, which he had sent to his friend Birabar Sahu of Bolangir. This time the recipient would be Shakespeare Tripathy of Bhubaneswar, with whom he has developed friendship through Internet chatting. Every big wish demands a big price. He had to spend Rs. 1700 to prepare the 104-metre long greeting card. None of his friends residing in the same building knew about it till it was completed on December 20. From December 10 he used to spend three to four hours every night to prepare the greeting card. Now he is in a hurry to roll and pack up the whole thing cautiously so that it could be sent as a large parcel to reach his friend on New Year eve.
