Listing positives
Speakers who addressed the dharna observed that Basar was a suitable place for setting up the since it was centrally located, with easy access for those from Maharashtra, Karnataka and north Telangana. It was also near Hyderabad, Nagpur and Nanded airports. The place had broad-gauge railway line, plenty of water as it was on the bank of Godavari and also State highway. Land was cheap too, they said, listing the advantages. TDP State secretary Arkala Narasa Reddy saw some "ulterior motive" in selecting another locale for IIT, going back on the earlier decision.
