Enact law to check price rise: Kerala

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Minister for Food and Civil Supplies C. Divakaran said here on Saturday that the Centre should bring in a law, capable of preventing hoarding and black marketing to control price rise.

The Minister said in a statement that though the Congress Working Committee had called for measures to check prices of essential commodities, the Central Government had done nothing. Instead, it was allowing monopoly. Foreign monopolies were being allowed to enter the retail market.

Mr. Divakaran also noted that the crisis in the agriculture sector, floods, droughts and crop loss were linked to price rise.
