DEHRA DUN: Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Mahendra Singh Tikait has threatened to gherao the Uttaranchal Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday if the Government does not give up its "anti-farmers" stand and resolves their problems. Addressing a Kisan Maha Rally at the Parade Grounds here over the weekend, Mr. Tikait said the farmers of Uttaranchal were leading a pathetic life as the Government had initiated no steps to improve their lot. He also demanded Rs.200 per quintal as the cane support price, justice to farmers whose land had been acquired, and power at subsidised rates.
