Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with (from left) S.S. Badrinath, Kishore Biyani, Neelima Khaitan, Swati Piramal, K. Kasturirangan and Kumar Mangalam Birla, after they were presented the Lakshmipat Singhania - IIM Lucknow National Leadership Awards in New Delhi, on Saturday.
Dr. Singh gave away the awards to those who have excelled in the field of business, science and technology and community service and social uplift at a glittering function here. While Kumar Mangalam Birla has been chosen for the award under the business category, scientist and Rajya Sabha member K. Kasturirangan has been selected for science and technology. The founder of Chennai-based Shanker Netralaya, S.S. Badrinath, was chosen for the community service and social uplift category.
`Young Leaders Awards'
Kishore Biyani, Group CEO of Future Group, Swati A. Piramal, Director of Strategic Alliances and Communications, Nicholas Piramal India Limited, and Neelima Khetan, Acting Director of Institute of Rural Management have been selected for the `Young Leaders Awards' for the three categories respectively. The awards consist of a trophy and a citation. PTI
