HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked officials of the Higher Education Department to take steps to set up universities in each district. Dr. Reddy released a book `Profile of higher education of Andhra Pradesh-2006' at his camp office here on Saturday.
The book consists information pertaining to the various courses offered by colleges offering professional and non-professional courses. The Chief Minister stressed the need for ensuring that employment opportunities were offered to all students coming out of the educational institutions and universities had a crucial role to play in this regard. The Government had already initiated several steps like setting up of Jawahar Knowledge Centres and offering coaching and career awareness programmes to make students employable.
Campus recruitment
In line with the graduates from other States who were employed in IT and BPO companies, efforts should be made to hone the skill sets of students here and ensure that they were suitably employed. In this direction, there was a need for intensifying campus interviews and recruitments, he said. Dr. Reddy asked IIIT governing board chairman Raj Reddy and Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education Chairman K.C. Reddy to explore ways for honing the skills of students taking up higher education courses.
