Mohan bags five wickets

Karaikudi: Brilliant knocks by Suresh (83), Vinoth (94), R. Karthik (70 not out) and a five-wicket haul by Mohan (five for two) helped Vanchi Cricket Club register a resounding 323-run victory over Sachin Brothers CC in the Sivagangai DCA `A' division cricket league at Karaikudi recently.

`A' division: Vanchi CC 367 for eight in 40 overs (Suresh 83, Vinoth 94, R. Karthik 70 not out, Thirunavukkarasu four for 60) bt Sachin Brothers CC 44 in 23.2 overs (Mohan five for two).

Devakottai CC 244 in 44.4 overs (Alkaffkhan 79) bt Alagappa Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology 110 in 36.1 overs (Nepolean six for 11).

Aruna Sports CC 244 in 41 overs (Palaniappan 77 not out) bt APTECH WBC Software CC 104 in 35.4 overs (Rajesh 41, Franklin five for 28).

Jolly Rovers CC 187 in 38.1 overs (Ilayaraja 54, Ramesh Krishnan five for 26) bt Moon light winners CC 90 in 25.3 overs (Raja four for 11, including a hat-trick), Selva Rajesh four for 21).

`B' division: Senshare CC 143 in 30.3 overs bt Newland CC Puduvayal 116 in 30.1 overs.

Leaders CC 145 in 29.4 overs (Thavasilingam seven for 45) bt Young Blood CC 94 in 20.3 overs (Nagamani five for 21).

Sekkalai CC 83 in 19.3 overs (Rajkapoor four for 19) lost to Rohini CC 84 for two in 13 overs.

`C' division: Moonlight CC 175 for eight in 30 overs (Shahul Hameed 53, Arul four for 31) lost to Star Bird CC 181 for six in 27 overs (Arul 52).

Telecom little knights CC 115 in 23 overs lost to Big Birds Brindhavanam CC 119 for six in 25.1 overs.

Friends FC posts win

Friends Football Club `A' beat St. Beneldes Football club 2-0 in the Tuticorin District Football Association `A' division league at the Stadium ground, Tuticorin on Saturday. Subbiah and Jothi Pradhan scored.

Volleyball meet

The Walter Davaram Volleyball Club and the Tirunelveli District Volleyball Association will conduct the senior inter-district championship for men and women at the VOC Stadium, Tirunelveli from Jan. 12 to 15.
