`Government indulging in scams'

Staff Correspondent

He says his party is ready to face mid-term elections in the State

  • `Squabbles in the BJP have reached a flash point'
  • Bangarappa promises group-specific schemes, if voted to power

Madikeri: Samajawadi Party State unit president S. Bangarappa on Saturday accused the Janata Dal (Secular)-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition in the State of indulging in scams rather than giving good governance to the people.

Mr. Bangarappa told party workers at Cauvery Kalakshetra here that the Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) Project controversy and mining controversy involving Rs. 150 crore, were a blot on the image of the State. Panchayat bodies had suffered for want of grants in time.

The Samajwadi Party was ready to face the elections, he said. Squabbles in the BJP had reached a flash point and the coalition could crash any time, Mr. Bangarappa said.

The former Chief Minister said if voted to power, the Samajwadi Party would come out with group-specific programmes targeting the youth, the unemployed, government employees and so on.

Mr. Bangarappa inaugurated a new office of the party near the Inspection Bungalow here. A grand procession was taken out from the Gaddige in the city to the Cauvery Kalakshetra.

Mr. Bangarappa lashed out at the United Progressive Alliance Government for "failing on all fronts", particularly remaining "anti-people".
