HASSAN: The Malenadu Janapara Horata Samiti (MJHS) has supported the action taken by the Vanaguru gram panchayat president Prem Kumar and other members who prevented two Andhra Pradesh-based companies from conducting a survey in the Bisle forest area across the Girihole and Addahole stream for the construction of a dam for electricity generation in Sakleshpur taluk. The gram panchayat had lodged a police complaint in the Yasalur Police Station against the survey officers of these companies on Thursday. Through a press release here on Saturday, samiti president H.A. Kishore Kumar said the Western Ghats was facing a threat owing to such projects. Mr. Kumar said the samiti was planning to stage a demonstration to "Save the Western Ghats".
