Deputy Registrar of Cooperatives O. Bhaskaran on Saturday assumed charge as administrator of the cooperative society headed by the former Minister and leader of the Communist Marxist Party (CMP) M.V. Raghavan. According to official explanation, the governing body of the society is dissolved and administrator rule enforced following loss of quorum at a meeting of the body. The administrator will conduct fresh election to the administrative body in six months. Society officials said the society had 15 members elected in July 2002 and thus the minimum number of members to attend a meeting of the body was eight. A year ago, the KSCHC, a primary society, was registered as federal society after increasing its membership to 25, though the registration was later revoked citing violation of co-operative rules. According to rules, the number of individual members in a federal society should not exceed 25, they said adding that all the members in the KSCHC were individual members. They said that though the registration as federal society was nullified, the Cooperative Department disbanded the society citing loss of quorum in the 25-member administrative body terminated by now.
