Naadhalaya Sironmani Award for Sudha Ragunathan

CHENNAI: Carnatic vocalist Sudha Ragunathan was given the Naadhalaya Sironmani Award at the inauguration of Valayapatti Kaashyap Naadhalaya's twelfth year music festival on Saturday.

Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami, who gave away the award, said south Indian artists should be given more of a chance to win awards at the national level. Also honoured were Sembanarkovil brothers, S.R.G. Sammandham and S.R.G. Rajanna, with Madurai Somu Memorial Award, Pakkirisamy Bharathi with the Valayapatti Award, T. Sai Sharan and Vidyanandi Iyer with the Kaashyap Child Artiste Award.
