Hoshiarpur: Two station masters were on Saturday convicted by a local court in the case relating to the Mirthal-Bhangala train accident here two years ago. Holding that dereliction of duty by Station Masters Ram Lal of village Nadaura in Himachal Pradesh and Varinder of Berohi in U.P. led to the accident on December 14, 2004 which claimed 38 lives and left 50 injured, Additional Sessions Judge Jaspal Singh sentenced them to seven years' rigorous imprisonment. The Judge also awarded 16 months imprisonment each to the station masters under various sections of the IPC and of the Railway Act. All the prison terms would run concurrently. PTI
