Christmas celebrations

NEW DELHI: The Archbishop of Delhi, Vincent M. Concessao, will be the chief celebrant for the solemn midnight mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral here this Christmas.

Nearly 5,000 people are expected to participate in the holy mass. The Cathedral will also be screening special movies on the life of Jesus. An exhibition on the same theme is now on at the Community Centre Hall.

Mobile exhibition

NEW DELHI: The National Book Trust is organising a month-long mobile book exhibition-cum-sale in different parts of rural Delhi beginning this Tuesday. Mobile book exhibition is an innovative scheme of NBT under which books are made available at the doorstep of people living in remote and rural parts of the country.

These exhibitions are organised to promote book culture and reading habit besides increasing the accessibility of books. The NBT has organised 6,000 such exhibitions all over the country so far.

Minor assaulted

NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old boy has been arrested by the North-East Delhi police for allegedly criminal assault on a minor girl at Khajuri Khas in North-East Delhi on Friday.

According to the police, Mohammad Sajid, a resident of E-Block in Khajuri Khas, was caught by neighbours when the girl raised an alarm. He was later handed over to the police.

The police said Sajid had lured the daughter of his neighbour when her family had gone out to offer Friday prayer.

Pirated VCDs seized

NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the South Delhi police for allegedly selling pirated VCDs and DVDs of Hindi movies and also pornographic VCDs. The police have recovered more than a thousand pirated VCDs and DVDs from the accused.

According to the police, an Indian Music Industry representative had reported that one Babloo Gupta was engaged in selling pirated film and music VCDs.

A raid was carried out at the shop of the suspect in Pul Prahladpur, Sangam Vihar, on Friday and the accused was arrested. The police claim to have seized 725 pirated VCDs and DVDs from his shop.

In another raid in the same locality, the police arrested Saleem Khan after allegedly recovering 443 pirated VCDs and DVDs from his shop.
