Bangalore: Defence-related projects have partially been shifted to private units, leading to a shortfall in work orders for the 515 Army Base Workshop, B.T. Lalitha Nayak, president of the workshop, has said. In a memorandum submitted to Union Minister of State for Planning M.V. Rajasekharan at a function to celebrate Suvarna Karnataka, organised by the Kannada Literature and Cultural Association of the Workshop, she said the association had no place to hold cultural activities. The Union Minister said classical status would definitely be accorded to Kannada soon. Tara Venu, national award winner for best actress, was felicitated for her contribution to Kannada cinema. Others felicitated were Kannada Somu, Rajendra P. Joshi and N. Cheluvaraju.
