This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru has said that India would like to help end the Suez Canal dispute between Egypt and Britain and France. "Our advice is listened to as a friend," he said in an interview televised by the Canadian Broadcasting System a few hours before his scheduled departure for London. "In that sense, we can help a little and we would like to help if we can," he said. He declared that the canal, blocked during the Anglo-French attack on Egypt, must be cleared and a political settlement obtained with Egypt.
