dated December 25, 1956: University honours CR

The Agra University conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters on Mr. C. Rajagopalachari at its convocation in Agra on December 22. The university's citation said that in honouring "this distinguished citizen of India," it was honouring itself. It paid tributes to his "keen intellect, clear vision and mature wisdom and burning patriotism," and recalled that he was a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom movement.
