Welfare schemes under scanner

BHUBANESWAR: Social activists have come together to evaluate welfare programmes being implemented in KBK region of the State as part of national level campaign `Wada Na Todo' to hold political bosses accountable for their promises.

The members of campaign also decided to build up local campaign `Katha Rakhiba Sarakar' in Orissa.

The volunteers would assess the implementation of promises made under programmes such as Education Guarantee Scheme and National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.

The announcement came after the two-day convention of social activists organised here on Friday under the national campaign, which seeks governments' accountability towards people's right to food, health and education.

Convenor of National Coordination Committee Jagadananda said members have planned to hold a public rally on January 26 in New Delhi to put the agenda ahead.
