BIJAPUR: Shivanand Patil, Basavanabagewadi MLA, said here on Saturday that educational institutions should keep pace with developments in science and technology for the benefit of students.
Contribution lauded
Participating in the diamond jubilee celebration of the Shikshan Prasarak Mandal (SPM)-run Marathi Vidyalaya here, he lauded the contribution of the institution to the field of education in the region without government grant. Mr. Patil announced a donation of Rs. 1 lakh to the institution on the occasion.
`Rise above differences'
He criticised language-based politics and said people should rise above language and caste differences as they did during the freedom struggle. Pune-based builder P.A. Inamdar, an alumnus, donated Rs. 2 lakh to the school and requested the management to utilise it for setting up a computer lab and other learning equipment to enhance the quality of teaching in the institute. S.V. Ranade, secretary of the SPM donated Rs. 1 lakh on the occasion. V.G. Nisture, president of the institution, welcomed the gathering. R.G. Khed, headmaster of the school, offered a vote of thanks. G.K. Patil, MLC; Narendra Kunte, an alumnus, and school chairman V.R. Deval participated.
