KOZHIKODE: Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has said that Kerala was not for confrontation on the Mullaperiyar issue and that it wanted an amicable solution. The Chief Minister was speaking after laying the foundation stone for a paddy procurement centre at Polpully, near Palakkad, on Sunday. He said that Tamil Nadu was trying to make Mullaperiyar a big issue. It was the first priority for the Government among the inter-State river disputes. Next was the Parambikulam Aliyar Project agreement. According to the agreement, Kerala would receive 7.25 tmcft. of water annually. However, only 5 tmcft. was received now, he said.
