KHAMMAM: Police booked a case against three persons running a Chinese `fast food centre' at Wyra on Sunday for allegedly skinning a monkey in front of their customers. Religious groups staged a protest in the town demanding action against them for hunting down the monkey. They alleged that the three had for quite some time been serving monkey meat on the sly along with other recipes in the fast food centre. The protestors squatted on the Khammam-Kothagudem road, disrupting vehicular traffic for a while. The din subsided following the intervention of the police. Meanwhile, the accused persons - Rahul, Sanjai and Dev - all from Darjeeling managed to escape from the town by the time the police reached the premises, according to the Wyra Sub Inspector, J. Sada Niranjan. He said the accused persons were booked under Section 51 of the Wildlife Act. They had opened the fast food centre only two months ago in the town. A search has been launched for them.
